ABOUT

The Foundation of Rooted in Learning

At Rooted in Learning, our journey began with a focus on speech therapy and executive functioning. We noticed that many children receiving traditional therapy or school support were still struggling with challenges despite years of help. These surface-level treatments did not address the deeper cognitive issues causing their difficulties. Our mission is to offer an integrated cognitive therapy approach that goes beyond managing immediate problems to truly understanding and addressing the root causes of learning struggles.

We saw a need for a different approach in supporting children – one that goes beneath the surface to understand why children struggle with speech and learning. It's not just about using different techniques; it's about a complete shift in how we support children’s communication and learning processes.

Our Process

02

Consultation

We'll arrange a time to discuss your concerns in detail and help determine whether our services might be a good fit—no commitments required.

03

Evaluation & Results

After the consultation, we will assess your child's skills and provide a written report with our findings and recommendations. We will then review the results with you and answer any questions you may have.

04

Therapy

Following the assessment, we'll make a detailed learning plan for your child, set therapy goals, and schedule sessions based on your availability, the therapist's availability, and your child's needs.

05

Progress Monitoring

We continually monitor progress and adjust therapy needs as necessary. We also provide ongoing support and resources to facilitate learning and development outside therapy sessions.

"Today in our society, we are label happy. Our children are labeled as having dyslexia, specific language disability, intellectual disability, speech and language impairment, developmental language disorder, dysgraphia, learning disability, processing disorder, ADD/ADHD, autism, and more.

These labels help us classify students, but for what purpose?

Yes, they can point us in the right direction, but they can also point us in the wrong direction.

Do they tell us where the breakdowns are for a particular student?

Do they tell us how a child is processing information?

For far too long, we've been missing the fact that many of these labels have overlapping cognitive components. When we label a child with dyslexia and language impairment, for example, we're missing the fact that there might actually be a shared underlying cognitive deficit.

There's always a connection."
